How many people did you see biking Friday morning on Calgary’s streets?

It’s Bike to Work Day and event founder Lonnie Balbi says there were a lot of people peddling to their job.

“We had huge numbers, probably the biggest year yet. I haven’t got the exact statistics in, but we are probably well over 3,000, so we did really, really well,” said Balbi.

He says he created this event six years ago because he just wants people to ride their bikes, adding about half of today’s participants are first time riders to work.
