Marathon hockey game continues

A 10 day marathon hockey game continues in Chestermere all in hopes of raising much needed funds for sick children.
As of Friday afternoon, $740,000 was raised from the game that started last Sunday.
Thursday, players learned that a young boy, Tyler, who had hoped to leave his hospital bed to watch the game, passed away.
Friday afternoon, players had a moment of silence to honour him.
“We’re all suffering our aches and pains and it’s absolutely nothing compared to what these kids go through let alone the fact when they actually succumb to their illnesses,” said player Dean Mikalauskas.
Andy Larose says cancer has taken three of his family members and he has decided to do something about it.
“I’m not going to be a silent donor, I’m going to be a screaming donor. I want everyone to know that I’m supporting this cause and the more people that I can get involved and the more people that are aware of what I am doing, if they do a little bit, and so on and so forth, I’m hoping it snowballs,” said Larose.
The game goes until Wednesday and donations raised go to the Children’s Hospital for cancer research as well as medical equipment for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
