Hotel talks for Stampede Park

The Calgary Stampede is looking at building a major hotel on the northwest corner of the grounds.

The Calgary Herald reports discussions are underway between Stampede officials and an independent developer who owns 27 hotels across Canada.

Vice president of park development for the Stampede, Warren Connell, says the hotel would provide amenities for guests outside the Stampede’s ten days, including agriculture exhibits, car shows and international conventions.

The proposed 315-room hotel could be open by the summer or fall of 2014.
