Alberta sees big jump in EI numbers

Another startling look at economic woes in Alberta.
Employment Insurance numbers have sky-rocketed in the past year.
Province-wide, 57,980 people collected EI in September, the most recent numbers from Statistics Canada show.
That’s up 9.1 per cent from August and nearly double what it was in September 2014.
Calgary is a direct reflection of those numbers, as 18,740 EI cheques were cut in September, up from 9,600 the year before.
