Going pink for Hair Massacure

A charity is getting the clippers out for a massacre with a good cause. The locks will be falling for the annual Make-A-Wish foundation Hair Massacure. The event started in Edmonton where participants dye their hair pink, to raise awareness in the community.

Spokesperson Kim Anthony says others shave their heads and donate their hair to cancer patients.

“We are looking for lots of participation this year. We look to schools, a lot of kids get involved, as well as individuals, and teams. We’re not sure how many are going to participate this year, but we can always accommodate more,” she says.

Since it started, the event has raised more than $10 million in the last few years for northern Alberta charities. The grand finale will be at the Scotiabank Saddledome for the Calgary Roughnecks’ February 28 game.
