CBE seeks feedback on bussing

The first set of transportation public engagement sessions are in the books for the Calgary Board of Education.

The board is holding three days of meetings at schools all over the city to get feedback about bussing in hopes of calming parents’ concerns.

Carrie Edwards is the CBE’s Director of Planning and Transportation.

She tells City News they are trying to make up a $13-million funding gap on the bussing side by looking at a number of issues.

“Some of the factors that go into our transportation planning, such as bell times, eligibility for ridership, user fees, waivers, there’s about nine factors on the table for our discussion,” she said.

Many parents were outraged at the beginning of the school year after learning bus stops had been moved, forcing some children to walk long distances.

To find out where and when the next session is, head to the CBE’s website where you can also provide feedback online.
