Three homes have been levelled and five others damaged in a large fire in Lethbridge.

It started just before 7 p.m. Wednesday on the west side of town.

Neighbours say flames were first spotted on the back deck of one home, and quickly spread.

The fire department says heavy winds were at least part of the reason for the fire moving so quickly.

Despite the size of the blaze, there were no reports of injuries.
