Calgarians invited to get (board) game faces on

A local volunteer group is celebrating 29 years of board gaming in the city, and inviting Calgarians to join.
The 29th annual FallCon board game convention, which will take place between Sept. 30 – Oct. 2, 2016 at the Commonwealth Centre.
Angela Henders, director of marketing for the convention, says the event was started almost three decades ago by four University of Calgary students who had a passion for board games. It’s grown in popularity since then, but the overall goal has always remained the same.
“This really is a Calgarian, homegrown event that is all about the passion of our volunteers who are dedicated to making gaming fun,” she said.
Henders adds, the event offers a break from our technology-driven world.
“FallCon was about being connected as a family without any screens involved,” she said. “It is, and always has been, something that is about relationships and playing together, and spending quality time together.”
The event is entirely volunteer run, and features over 1,400 games, a flea market, and a board game auction.
