Calgary Flames stay the course

An off season review of the Calgary Flames is over and the owners of the team have decided to maintain the status quo.
Despite an outcry from fans that General Manager Darryl Sutter be fired for failing to get the team into the playoffs, his job is safe.
It looks like Sutter will actually be getting an assistant or two to help him run hockey operations, giving him more time to concentrate on the on-ice product.
Calgary Sun Sports Columnist and JACK FM Morning Co-host Eric Francis believes the decision will come back and haunt the team.
Francis tells 660News the club thinks a man with experience is what’s needed to turn the team around, yet Sutter is the guy who is responsible for the current mess.
Globe and Mail Sports Columnist Bruce Dowbiggen views the decision to stick with Sutter as “a big disappointment for Flames fans.”
As for keeping Jarome Iginla, both Dowbiggen and Francis call that decision a no-brainer because there is nobody else within the organization who can assume the roll of the face of the franchise.
The next big event for the Flames is June’s entry draft, but with no picks in the top 60 selections look for Sutter to try and make a deal or two.
