The burn treatment centre in Foothills Hospital is now a million dollars richer, thanks to Calgary firefighters.
Over a three-year period, the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society raised money for the unit and on Thursday, they gave the hospital a cheque worth $1.4 million.
Jill Olynyk with the Calgary Health Trust says the unit is above and beyond what it could be.
“Because of the funding that they provide to it, because of the commitment from this group, it has the best equipment, can have the best supplies and programs, and can also do the research as well.”
Olynyk says the society is involved in all levels of fundraising and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of Calgarians.
