The pro-life students who were disciplined for their graphic displays at the University of Calgary will not be getting a chance for appeal.
The eight students were found guilty of “non-academic misconduct” when they didn’t comply with a request to turn their pro-life signs around so passers-by couldn’t see them.
The group used graphic images to compare abortion to the Holocaust and the Rwandan genocide.
A five-person appeal board wrote to each member of the campus pro-life group indicating that they will not conduct a hearing into the matter, and the guilty verdict will stand.
That means if the students fail to comply in the future they could face further penalties such as expulsion.
