Alberta, federal governments to match Red Cross wildfire donations

The Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta are committing to match every dollar donated to the Canadian Red Cross for Alberta wildfire supports.
This comes as the province continues to be under a state of emergency due to the fires.
All donated funds will essentially triple, increasing money available for relief and recovery efforts.
The announcement was made Thursday morning, just hours before federal Public Safety Minister Bill Blair said the federal government was sending armed forces to Alberta to help in wildfire relief efforts.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith confirmed the support while speaking during the United Conservative Party’s morning campaign announcement.
According to both governments, “Donated funds will allow the Canadian Red Cross to support community organizations to support impacted people and communities as they begin the long process of recovery for increasing events.”
Those wanting to make donations can do so by visiting the Red Cross website or by calling 1-800-418-1111.
