A Calgary police veteran is facing charges after allegedly assaulting members of his family last weekend.

A Calgary police veteran is facing charges after allegedly assaulting members of his family last weekend.

The Calgary Police Service (CPS) say they were called to a home around 10 p.m. Saturday after getting reports that two family members were attacked during an argument.

The suspect left the home before police arrived, but was found a short time later and arrested.

The officer, a 14-year CPS member, has been charged with two counts of assault. His name is not being released to protect the privacy of the victims.

The accused is being relieved from duty pending a further duty status review, according to CPS.
