NW Calgary apartment complex evacuated after pallet falls through roof

Emergency crews responded to a condo complex in NW Calgary Tuesday morning following reports of a possible explosion.

A multi-unit residential building in northwest Calgary had to be evacuated Tuesday after part of the top floor roof caved in.

The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) tells CityNews crews were called to the building on Panatella Street NW in the community of Panorama Hills after getting reports of an explosion.

The CFD says it was determined not to be an explosion, but a pallet of shingles that fell through the top floor roof of the four floor building into a unit below.

The entire building was evacuated. No injuries were reported.

A crane truck has been ordered to remove the remaining shingle that were on the roof.

CFD’s Technical Rescue Team is on scene to assess the structure.
