Calgary police say one person has been killed in a single-vehicle crash in the city’s southeast early Wednesday.

Emergency crews were called to a stretch of 84 Street SE north of Glenmore Trail around 2:30 a.m.

Police say a BMW was travelling northbound when it left the roadway before rolling into a ditch west of 84 Street SE. Investigators believe the vehicle continued to roll and crossed the road again, before coming to a rest in the ditch east of the road.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
