Pedestrian critically hurt after being struck while lying on street: Calgary police

A pedestrian involved collision in the 800 block of 16th Avenue SW, has left one person in life-threatening condition Sunday evening.

A pedestrian is fighting for their life in hospital after being struck in Calgary’s Beltline neighbourhood on Sunday night.

Emergency crews were called to 16 Avenue SW between 7th and 8 Street SW around 8:50 p.m. for reports someone had been hit by a vehicle.

Calgary police say a person was lying in the street and was hit by a vehicle. Investigators say the victim was not seen by oncoming traffic until they were struck.

The driver who struck the pedestrian called 911 and remained at the scene, according to police.

The pedestrian was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition.

16 Avenue SW is closed between 7th and 8th streets for the investigation.
