Two more men are facing charges related to extortion shootings in northeast Calgary, with one still on the loose, police said Monday.
Twenty-one-year-old Karanbir Singh faces one count of discharging a firearm with intent, and officers add he is expected to appear in court on Monday.
This is the second arrest in a series of shootings in the city that began on Feb. 22 in the early morning.
Officers say they were called to the 8400 block of Saddleridge, where two people fired several rounds into a home before fleeing the scene. A video of the shooting circulated online.
The same home was targeted 11 days later on the morning of March 4, when three suspects fired into the home.
Police say they were able to analyze evidence from a traffic stop on March 7, which led investigators to establish connections between the suspects, vehicles, and the incidents in question.
Now, police are looking for a third suspect, 22-year-old Germanjeet Singh, who is wanted for discharging a firearm with intent. Officers describe him as 5’8″ tall, 198 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
Since January 2025, Calgary police say 41 extortion attempts have occurred in the city. Seventeen of the incidents involved shootings at homes, businesses, or vehicles.
“These crimes are happening across Canada, and while they have involved threats and shootings, we have no reported injuries in Calgary to date,” police said.
The Edmonton Police Service, the Canada Border Services Agency, and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team helped CPS with the investigation.
Officers ask anyone with information about this incident to call Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
