Man suffers life-altering injuries in Macleod Trail crash: police

A man has been left with life-altering injuries after his vehicle collided with a pole on a major southeast highway, police said Sunday.
They say it happened at around 6:30 a.m. at 94 Avenue and Macleod Trail SE.
Police say the victim — a man in his 20s and the only occupant of a Chevy Cruze — was driving southbound on Macleod Trail when it left the roadway and struck a traffic signal pole on the centre median.
He was extracted from the vehicle by Calgary firefighters.
The man was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition, and has since been upgraded to stable condition with life-altering injuries.
Investigators believe speed and alcohol are possible factors.
Meanwhile, Macleod Trail will reopen after being closed in both directions between 90 Avenue and Southland Drive SE once police conclude their investigation sometime before 2 p.m.
