Three more people have been charged in connection to a fight that happened outside a place of worship in southeast Calgary earlier this year.
On Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026 around 6 p.m., a religious event was being hosted at a place of worship located on Meridian Road SE.
Ahead of the scheduled event, around 12 people arrived to protest the gathering in light of recent geopolitical events.
It’s believed that people associated with the centre came out of the building and verbally threatened the protestors before another man driving an SUV steered toward the group of protestors.
One person was hit by the vehicle and was left with minor injuries.
Further investigation by police has now revealed that members of the protesting group assaulted an attendee of the event who was filming the protestors in an attempt to capture their identities.
Bahareh Zare Bahari, 38, and Hamed Rahafrouz, 46, both of Calgary, have each been charged with one count of assault.
They will next appear in court on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Mohammad Daryaei, 33, of Calgary has been charged by way of warrant for uttering threats.
The driver of the vehicle who hit the protestor had previously been charged with one count of assault with a weapon.
