Calgary Police take excessive speeders to task, one driving twice the limit

For the second consecutive day, Calgary Police are publicly taking to task an excessive speeder with social media posts cautioning against the illegal practice, including a case of a motorist travelling more than twice the speed limit.
CPS say they pulled a car over moving 218 km/h in a 100 km/h zone along southbound Stoney Trail near Peigan Trail SE.
The driver was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle on July 19.
Thursday, police detailed another case of an excessive speeder, also on July 19, 2026.
“At 5 p.m., we pulled over a car travelling 150 km/h in a 100 km/h zone along westbound Stoney Trail near Metis Trail NE. The driver received a $744 fine for speeding and a $421 fine for driving an unregistered vehicle.”
CPS adds, “road safety is a shared responsibility. While enforcement plays an important role, preventing high-speed incidents depends on drivers making responsible choices, obeying posted limits & staying mindful of others on the road.”
