Gas leak capped after road closures, CTrain disruption near Stampede grounds

A gas leak near the Stampede Grounds prompted road closures and transit disruptions in Calgary on Thursday afternoon.

Calgary police say officers were called to the area of Macleod Trail and 17 Avenue SE just after 2 p.m. due to a gas leak.

In an update, police said the leak had been capped around 4 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

Macleod Trail had been closed in both directions between 18 Avenue and 25 Avenue S.E. CTrain service was also suspended between Victoria Park/Stampede Station and Erlton/Stampede Station, with shuttle buses running between City Hall and Erlton.

Police said the roads reopened and transit service resumed shortly after the leak was capped.
