The Salvation Army has opened up a temporary disaster assistance centre in High River following the devastating flooding last month.
During the flooding on June 21st, their regular facility suffered extensive damage, including their church, thrift store and food bank.
Salvation Army spokesperson Captain Pam Goodyear says they won’t be able to re-open for several months.
She tells 660News they’ve set up some trailers with food hampers at 117 2nd Street S.E. in the town to help those who need it.
“We’ve also got a small clothing area set up, a few other little tiny household items if anyone needs an extra toothbrush, we had some work gloves dropped off Monday. We’re encouraging people to come and register there and see what’s available if they need some assistance,” says Goodyear.
Goodyear says they will be open Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. until the foreseeable future.
She adds they are not looking for donations because there just isn’t any room right now.
