Pregnant mother behind bars until deportation

A pregnant woman arrested in relation to a human trafficking ring in Calgary will spend her Christmas behind bars.

Siu Ling Wong was arrested and questioned last week, during a raid on a downtown suite police say was used to coordinate a prostitution ring involving human trafficking.

Wong, a pregnant mother of three, has not been charged.

Instead, the woman has been ordered deported back to Hong Kong.

Lisa White with Canada Border Services tells 660News Wong is being deported because she has overstayed her visitor’s visa

However, she has been denied freedom until her deportation because she is considered a flight risk.

Wong came to Canada as a visitor in February.
