Greenpeace protests Oilsands pipelines

Two national days of action are targeting the oilsands.

Greenpeace Canada is holding rallies in Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver to say no to anything that will help develop the oilsands.

The proposed Enbridge Gateway pipeline is one of seven projects designed to carry oilsands crude to and from the coastal waters of British Columbia.

Organizers say the possibility of more supertankers chugging away along Canada’s west coast are disasters waiting to happen.

Spokesperson Melina Laboucan-Massimo tells 660News the group is hoping to push the government into investing in renewable energy, such as solar and wind power.

Rallies saying no to the construction of the pipelines will take place on Sunday.
