Long-term care fees going up

Long-term care fees in Alberta are set to rise.

The provincial government says a three per cent hike on the maximum amount facilities can charge is needed to cover rising costs.

Opposition parties and senior advocates are slamming the move, pointing to a seven per cent increase made only two years ago.

The hike takes effect on February 1st.
