Bernard Callebaut facing personal bankruptcy

Former Calgary chocolate tycoon Bernard Callebaut could be homeless before Christmas.

His home in Bragg Creek was tied to his failed business and Callebaut himself is now facing personal bankruptcy.

He tells The Calgary Sun it’s devastating for his family, especially his two young children.

He doesn’t even have an oven to use, but still has 200 orders of chocolate to fill by Christmas.

He says times are tough, but he’s encouraged by all the offers of support he’s received.

Callebaut lost his business after it went into receivership and his bid to buy back his iconic chocolate factory was rejected in favour of one from a former Callebaut vice-president.
