Snow overnight, but don’t expect it to last long

Let’s hope this October is not a repeat of last year, when winter began right around Thanksgiving.

Having said that, there were reports of snow west of the city late Wednesday night and snow in the forecast for Thursday morning.

Once the roads turn white, tire shops will be busy putting on winter wheels.

Workers at one Fountain Tire say they’re already working on about three to four vehicles per day.

Meteorologist David Spence says rain showers will likely turn into flurries early Thursday morning.

He says the snow will be wet and come down in pretty big snow flakes but it will probably melt as it hits the ground.

Spence adds this is a transition month when we often see big swings in temperature.

“In October we can have some very warm days. I mean our record highs are still close to 30 degrees, but at the same time our record lows are below minus ten. So, it’s that time of year where we can have really warm or really cold (temperatures),” he says.

So far, weather models do not indicate the snow will stay with us.

David says it should be gone by mid-morning Thursday.
