The Alberta Tories may send in one of their biggest heavyweights into an election battle with Danielle Smith.
Finance Minister Ted Morton could end up competing against the Wildrose Alliance leader in her chosen riding, to stop her from getting a seat in the legislature.
Smith has already announced that she plans to run in the redrawn riding of Okotoks-High River.
Its current Tory MLA says he’s leaning towards not running again.
Morton tells The Calgary Herald he’s seriously considering running against Smith but will hold off on making a final decision until the end of January.
The next election is expected in early 2012.
