Ward 10 voting scandal charges dropped

After five years of legal wrangling, charges in the Ward 10 voting scandal have been dropped.

David Aftergood, who is married to former Ward 10 Alderman Margot Aftergood was supposed to go to trial on Monday but Alberta Justice has now stayed those charges.

A spokesperson says they reviewed the evidence and determined they wouldn’t get a conviction even though Aftergood was already convicted once in April of 2007.

He appealed and was granted a new trial.

Alderman Andre Chabot, who was elected when Aftergood was given the boot say he’s disappointed no one will face charges in the case.
