Fatal crash shuts down Highway 24

RCMP are investigating after a fatal multi-vehicle crash Wednesday morning that shut down Highway 24.

At least five vehicles were involved and one tractor-trailer.

One man is dead as a result, and no other injuries have been reported.

It’s one of several multi-vehicle and serious crashes in and around Calgary, Wednesday.

A separate crash on Glenmore Trail, has left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

EMS Spokesperson Stuart Brideaux says it happened just before 7:30a.m.

“A male patient in his late 40’s has sustained serious injuries after he had spun out and collided with a gravel truck, then had a secondary collision with a semi-truck along the same highway. We determined that there were no other injuries, other than the one male patient, the single occupant driver,” he said.

Extreme caution is urged if you’re headed out on the road, otherwise, RCMP recommend a little travel as possible.
