One-third of people say Christmas Eve is the best time to pop the question, but ladies shouldn’t bother to put a ring on it.
Sixty-five per cent of guys who took part in the British survey say they’d refuse if their girlfriend proposed.
Not everyone’s romantic: three-quarters of respondents thought it was okay to break up before Christmas.
Only nine per cent thought New Year’s Eve was a good time to propose.
Some sentimentalists have gone high tech, with 29 per cent proposing via email; 27 per cent said text was fine.
