Two homes under construction south of Cochrane were destroyed by fire Tuesday night.
Firefighters responded to the fire in the Rivercrest community around 7:20 p.m.
The town said one occupied home to the east and another under construction home to the west were also threatened by the blaze.
A quick and co-ordinated response by fire crews is credited for preventing further spread to nearby properties, the town said in an update Wednesday morning. “Cool temperatures created extremely slippery conditions on-site, adding complexity to an already dynamic situation,” said Cochrane Fire Chief, Shawn A.C. Polley. “Despite these challenges, our crews and partners worked diligently and safely to manage the incident and protect the community.”
Photos and videos from the scene showed large flames and plumes of smoke.
No injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Cochrane Fire Services.
