A high-risk sex offender from Calgary is back behind bars, after spending almost two months on the run.
Police in Abbotsford, B.C. arrested Dean Zimmerman at a shelter on Monday.
The arrest was made after a staff member at the shelter noticed Zimmerman as being a person wanted out of Calgary.
Zimmerman was staying at the shelter under the alias of Robert Armstrong, and had been there since late November.
The 44 year-old had spent time in prison for violent sex assaults against women.
Zimmerman was released into the city of Calgary on September 29th after serving more than three years for sexual assault and disappeared about two weeks later.
Efforts are currently being made to bring the convicted rapist back to Calgary to face three charges for failing to comply with release conditions, and further charges are expected.
Police are trying to piece together his whereabouts and activities since he took off from Calgary in mid-October.
He was arrested without incident.
