Cold Snap causing water seepage in three condo parkades

It may be warming up finally, but not in time to prevent flooding from ice backing up on the Bow River.

Water has been rushing into the parkades of three downtown condo buildings.

Frank Frigo with the city tells C-T-V, ice formation has created some increment in the ground water level that has caused some seepage into the base level parkades in along 6th Avenue.

Pumps have been working around the clock.

Alderman John Mar says free parking has been arranged for the people impacted by the flooding.

Down along the Bow, the ice has covered some pathways twisting and breaking metal railings.

Jeff Budai with the Fire Department tells C-T-V, even though the river looks frozen over in some spots, it’s still extremely dangerous and should never be walked on.
