A violent attack outside a restaurant in the city’s northwest earlier this week has led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man.
Keith Brown, who is known to the gang unit, is facing a total of 16 charges including assault, possession of a weapon, and assaulting a peace officer.
The incident happened Monday night, when witnesses say they saw a man assaulting a 16-year-old youth.
When by-standers tried to break up the fight, both the suspect and the victim got into a waiting vehicle and drove off.
Once police caught up with the get-away car, they found three people inside; that’s when one officer was punched in the face and head several times.
Police believe the victim and the suspect know each other and were trying to settle a long-standing dispute.
A shotgun and 20 rounds of ammunition were found inside the vehicle, and the K-9 unit also came across a loaded handgun nearby.
The female driver who owns the vehicle is also facing charges.
