January declared Crime Stoppers month

January has officially been declared Crime Stoppers Awareness Month by the mayor and city council.

As such, a fundraiser dinner hosted by Crime Stoppers will be held on January 14th.

Terry Hathaway, Executive Director of Crime Stoppers, tells 660News they’re also preparing to launch a new Talk-Type-Text program.

It includes calling in tips to their 1-800 number, emailing them through their website, or the newest way – texting.

Hathaway says they’re hoping the initiative will encourage younger people to report crimes the moment they see them.
