You won’t just be running for health or to break that personal best anymore, marathoners in the city will now be able to run for charity.
The Calgary Marathon Society has signed onto the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge, a program that lets people choose their own charity when they register online for a running event.
The Calgary Herald reports, the society wanted to highlight the community aspect of the run and partnering with Scotiabank was a great way to do it.
Right now, only two charities are listed for the Calgary event, the Diabetes Association and “At My Best”, a national wellness program for primary schoolchildren.
