As the relief effort in Haiti continues, the Canadian Red Cross has extended their office hours to make donating easier.
The Calgary offices were open this weekend from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to accept walk-in donations.
A spokeswoman tells 660News they felt it was important to open their offices on the weekend, to accept donations from those who couldn’t make it in during the week.
Public donations to the Canadian Red Cross will be used to provide emergency shelter, food, water and other essentials to Haiti.
Canadians have donated more than $17.2-million.
The Government of Canada is matching individual Canadian donations to the Red Cross made between January 12th to February 12th. They will be matching those donations up to $50-million.
