Could be a lean year for tourism

Tourism Calgary admits 2010 could be a lean year.

Last year, this city hosted several major events including The Brier, an LPGA tour and
The Grey Cup.

This year the calendar of events is sparse.

The new president and CEO of Tourism Calgary says, while the Olympics were an incredible event for Canada, they did exhaust sponsorship and advertising dollars.

Randy Williams says they knew 2010 was going to a tough year, but he’s confident tourism operators will still enjoy a better year this year compared to last.

Especially since in 2009, the recession kept most of us, close to home.
