Van Horne students push for school to stay open

Students at Sir William Van Horne High School are upset that the Calgary Board of Education could possibly be shutting down the facility.

The CBE is concerned with low enrolment at the school.

About 260 students are enrolled at Van Horne although it’s built to hold about 960.

The school offers a different curriculum called Knowledge and Employability. It’s a program that many students tell CTV News they can’t do without.

If the board did vote to close Van Horne it wouldn’t happen until June, 2011.

A Facebook group dedicated to saving the school has 369 members.
