Two men are facing a lengthy list of charges after police rescued a woman who was allegedly being held captive in a southeast Calgary home.
Calgary police say they learned on Oct. 12 that a woman was being held against her will in a residence on 37 Street SE in the community of Forest Lawn.
The following morning, tactical officers executed a raid on the home, finding the victim and arresting two men inside. Investigators believe the kidnapping was targeted and connected to the drug trade.
During a search of the home, officers seized a sawed-off rifle, a stolen motorcycle, and several cell phones. They also found illegal drugs with an estimated street value of more than $72,000.
Police say the drugs included 607 grams of fentanyl valued at approximately $60,700, 360 grams of methamphetamine valued at $7,200, and 850 millilitres of GHB valued at $4,250.
Two Calgary men have been charged in connection with the investigation.
Joseph Richard Frederick Sarazen, 45, is charged with assault, confinement, theft and drug-related offences. Jordan Barry Taylor, 36, faces similar charges, as well as several weapons offences.
Police are also searching for a third suspect, Dmetri Tyrone Cappo, 33. He is wanted on charges including confinement, theft, drug trafficking and breaching court orders.
Cappo is described as six feet tall, approximately 280 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information about the kidnapping or the whereabouts of Cappo is asked to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
