Hostage-taking suspect undergoes psych evaluation

The man accused of taking a school secretary hostage at a Calgary junior high will undergo a 30 day psychiatric evaluation.
Defence lawyer Rebecca Snukal has asked that her client, Matthew Akani Adeniran, be tested after he was briefly seen by a doctor Wednesday morning.
The crown prosecutor did not oppose the request to have him transferred to the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Centre.
Adeniran, who remains in custody, returns to court on April 9th.
The 25-year-old was arrested one week ago following a standoff at A.E. Cross Junior High in the city’s southwest.
Secretary Bonnie Grainger was allegedly held at knife-point in the school office for nearly two hours.
