Third killer slide in 8 days claims two victims

There has been yet another deadly avalanche in B.C.

It was the third one in the province in 8 days.

The latest slide in northeastern B.C. near Valemount has killed two French heli-skiers.

Valemount RCMP say a slide in the Wells Gray Provincial Park near MacAndrew Lake buried three skiers, killing two of them Saturday afternoon.

Police say the third man buried in the slide wasn’t injured.

The men who died were 65 and 19-years-old.  Their families have requested their names not be released.

Police say the avalanche happened when a licensed heli-ski operator had a group of 10 skiers and two guides descending a run in the park’s Cariboo Mountain Range.

Authorities categorized the latest avalanche as a Class 3 to 3.5 slide.

A Calgary man died in an avalanche at Eagle Pass Mountain on Friday, and two other Calgary-area men were killed on nearby Boulder Mountain last weekend.
