Great feasts for Calgary’s less fortunate

The Mustard Seed and the Calgary Drop-in Centre will host a free Easter dinner Sunday serving thousands of Calgary’s homeless.

They’ll be rolling out hams, turkeys and pies for those unable to break bread with family.

Courtney Fliss with Mustard Seed tells The Calgary Sun, the guests are coming for a lot more than just food; they’re also coming looking for a sense of community and family.

She says they expect to serve over 2,500 dinners over the entire Easter weekend and over 140 volunteers make it all possible.

Both the Mustard Seed and The Calgary Drop-in Centre say they’ve seen a rise in guests thanks to the current economic conditions.
