This article is more than 5 years old.
It was one of the worst kept secrets in the city, and now it’s out.
Ward 6 alderman Joe Connelly has announced he’s running for mayor.
He promises if he wins he will run Calgary like a business with a council that listens to its citizens.
Connelly vows to create a transparent and responsible government that uses common sense when deciding where to spend your tax dollars.
He also wants to see a Calgary with parking spots downtown.
“If you want to have a vibrant downtown, you need to have a vehicle to get people down there. The people who have the money, who are going to go to restaurants and spend money they tend to drive. That’s the reality.”
He wants to review snow and ice removal, to trim the city’s 25 key priorities.
