Some still without power in southern Alberta

It’s five days after the fact, but about 200 customers in the Lethbridge, Taber, Vauxhall, Brooks and Bassano areas are still without power.

At the height of the outage during Wednesday’s wicked spring storm in the region, Fortis had about 50,000 customers in the dark.

A Fortis spokesperson tells the Calgary Herald they hoped to have that number reduced even further by Saturday night, but admitted a small number of rural customers would have to endure a fifth day without power Sunday.

Crews are still dealing with damaged power poles and downed wires.
