Calgary couple defends trash dumping incident

It’s all just a huge misunderstanding. That’s what the man accused of dumping garbage in North Glenmore Park is saying.

Dan Walker claims he saw the black and yellow “no dumping” signs posted in the parking lot, but didn’t think that applied to his bag of leaves and grass.

Walker admits he and his wife were indeed the couple caught on camera, emptying their load of garbage in the parking lot – but only because they thought it was a city-approved dumping area.

He tells the Calgary Sun there’s no way he would have ditched the trash, if he’d known it was not allowed.

The city’s parks department says there is no legal place to leave any kind of garbage or yard waste in North Glenmore.
