Thanks to a tip from the public, Calgary police have busted a million dollar marijuana grow operation in the city’s northwest.
People in the community of Panaroma Hills complained of a car driving in and out of a garage in the 200 block of Panamount Hill and the smell of marijuana.
When the home was searched police found almost 900 marijuana plans with a street value of about $1.1 million.
Police say the home was also rigged up to steal electricity to power the grow-op.
Thai Son Tran, a foreign national living in our city, is charged with the production/manufacturing of drugs, possession of cannabis/marijuana/hashish for the purpose, theft of electricity or gas under $5,000, theft under $5,000 and possession of a weapon or imitation for a dangerous purpose.
