RCMP reassure public search for missing Alberta couple continues

RCMP are trying to quash rumours that the search for a missing Alberta couple has ended.

Lyle and Marie McCann were last seen July 3rd leaving St. Alberta in their RV bound for British Columbia.

RCMP spokeswoman Doris Stapleton tells 660News “I want to make it perfectly clear that the search for the McCanns is not over, we will not stop our search until we have found the McCanns.”

Stapleton says she believes the confusion may have started over the fact that the forensic search of the arrest site and Nojack campground have ended.

She says the major crimes unit is continuing to investigate tips from the public.

38-year-old Travis Vader, who authorities have named as a person of interest, is awaiting court dates on outstanding warrants not related to the McCann case.

The couple’s burned-out motor home was found two days after they were last seen southeast of Edson. On July 16th, their Hyundai Tucson was located deep in the bush east of Edson.
