Calgary celebrates Gay Pride

Thousands of Calgarians braved the cold wet weather in the downtown core Sunday for the 2010 Gay Pride Parade.

The event celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, with more floats than ever before.

Although Calgary isn’t known for its large gay community, the numbers are growing and so is the acceptance.

One parade spectator tells 660News, she was touched to see parents bringing their young children to the event, because it teaches kids at a young age that homosexuals should be treated as equals.

Parade participants say each year the crowd of spectators becomes larger and more diverse, a sign that times are changing.
